I am the kind of parent that childless people hate. I take my kids to hip restaurants and am not deterred by the complete lack of booster seats, high chairs, or chicken fingers on the menu. I am simply not content to while away my weekends at home or limit our outings to places that have designated stroller parking. I wheel our mammoth double wide into petite boutiques and carry my cooing baby into austere galleries. We boldly go where no family unit has gone before.

Dollar Delights: Christopher Elbow’s First Friday Steal.

I must be slipping. A six week vacation from blogging has turned my instincts to mush. How else do you explain my complete and total ignorance regarding Christopher Elbow’s First Friday $1 chocolate deal?  I had to hear about it from my visiting sister-in-law. She, an out of town guest, schooled me on one of my own city’s best insider deals.

At $2.50 each, CE’s petite, polished beauties are an occasional indulgence at best. The array of tempting flavor combinations can be overwhelming when you are on a limited budget. “Tupelo honey from Florida cooked into a buttery caramel, fresh lemon marmelade and lemon infused white chocolate ganache, dark milk chocolate ganache infused with floral elderflower and elderflower liquer,” etc.  You can blow a 10 spot without taking a breath.

The First Friday offer allows even notorious tightwads to order with abandon and take a chance on some of the more exotic flavors. My well-informed in-law came away with bag full of 8 enticing choices, including Strawberry Balsamic Caramel.
